After two days of struggle, the Congress has finally announced the name of the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. The Congress high command has approved the name of Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday, while Mukesh Agnihotri has been chosen as the Deputy Chief Minister. The swearing-in ceremony for the post of Chief Minister will be held at 11 am on Sunday.
Himachal’s new CM Sukhu has given BJP a chance to attack Congress even before taking oath. In fact, Himachal Pradesh’s designated Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu thanked Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka for giving him the responsibility of the Chief Minister’s post, but did not even take the name of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. In such a situation, the BJP has once again targeted the new Congress president Kharge, calling him a rubber stamp president.
Chief Minister-designate of Himachal Pradesh Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said, ‘I am thankful to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and the people of the state. It is my responsibility to fulfill the promises we have made to the people of Himachal Pradesh. We have to work for the development of the state. The Gandhi family has contributed a lot in the steps I have climbed in politics. It is my responsibility to implement the promises we made to the public. We do not want power for the sake of power, we have brought power for change.’
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has embarked on Bharat Jodo Yatra against the central government on the issue of inflation and unemployment. In such a situation, he did not participate in the election campaign of Himachal, Priyanka Gandhi took the responsibility of campaigning. Political experts questioned the role of Kharge when Rahul Gandhi did not campaign in Himachal. He said that Kharge is the president of the party, if he wanted, he could have given Rahul Gandhi the responsibility of campaigning in Himachal Pradesh, but Kharge could not muster the courage to stop Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra midway. In such a situation, the question arises whether Congress President Kharge is a nominal president? Nothing works in his party. Amidst the weak role of Kharge, the way Himachal’s nominated Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has ignored him, the discussion has once again started on social media about Kharge’s role in Congress.
BJP leader Amit Malviya taunted Kharge
The manner in which Kharge has been sidelined by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister-designate Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has given the BJP an opportunity to attack the sitting Congress. BJP leader Amit Malviya tweeted, “Kharge ji, would you like to send a note to the newly appointed Congress Chief Minister in Himachal Pradesh reminding him that you are now the Congress President and perhaps in some way responsible for his promotion?” Please don’t be so quick to get the impression that you are a rubber stamp president.
Oath taking will be at 11 am on Sunday
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the high command on Saturday selected Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party that is Chief Minister (of Himachal Pradesh) and Mukesh Agnihotri as the Deputy Chief Minister. He informed that the swearing-in ceremony for the post of Chief Minister will take place tomorrow at 11 am. Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will take oath on Sunday and run the government smoothly. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge will attend the oath ceremony. All the MLAs have also been invited. On the other hand, Himachal Pradesh Congress chief Pratibha Virbhadra Singh has said that this decision has been taken unanimously. We accept the decision of the high command.
