Ajit Pawar: In an unprecedented move, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has announced two working presidents, Supriya Sule and Praful Patel. Party supremo Sharad Pawar revealed this reshuffle within the NCP as a strategic manoeuvre to delegate responsibilities more efficiently within the party. This is the first time in the party’s history where such positions have been introduced, marking a significant milestone.
Sharad Pawar’s Stand on Ajit Pawar’s Absence in the Reshuffle
Despite the absence of Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar’s nephew, from the recent reshuffling of roles, the party patriarch reassured the public that this was not a demotion. Sharad Pawar emphasised that Ajit Pawar’s current position as the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly is a significant responsibility in itself. The NCP stalwart went further to reveal that Ajit Pawar was among the key decision-makers who agreed on the promotion of Supriya Sule and Praful Patel.
New Assignments for Supriya Sule and Praful Patel, Ajit Pawar Congratulates
The fresh assignment of roles brings significant responsibilities for the newly appointed working presidents. Lok Sabha representative, Supriya Sule, has been entrusted with the responsibility of supervising party activities in regions such as Maharashtra, Haryana, and Punjab, along with addressing matters related to women, youth, students, and the Lok Sabha. Conversely, Rajya Sabha representative, Praful Patel, will manage affairs pertaining to Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Goa, as well as issues in the Rajya Sabha.
Ajit Pawar, despite not being included in the reshuffle, was present during the announcement. He appeared to acknowledge the decision humbly, and later extended his congratulations to both Sule and Patel on Twitter. His reaction suggests that he supports this strategic move that empowers the next generation of NCP leaders.
This game-changing decision within the NCP comes after the party survived a political crisis when Sharad Pawar temporarily resigned from his presidential post. Although he subsequently retracted his decision, the latest reshuffle indicates that the party is keen on bringing its next-generation leaders to the forefront of its operations. As the political landscape continues to shift, the NCP’s innovative approach to leadership and delegation signals exciting times ahead for the party.
