Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that his party stands with these satyagrahi Annadatas on the completion of seven months of the farmers’ agitation against the three new agricultural laws of the central government.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted, ‘Sidhi-sidhi baat hai – we are with Satyagrahi Annadata.’ Apart from former party president, Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala has also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
He said, ‘Modi government is torturing farmers for 7 years, not for 7 months! The Indian National Congress stands with the farmer brothers of the country with full commitment and firmness. The party strongly supports the peaceful demonstration of the farmers.
It is worth noting that the protesting farmers against the three new agricultural laws of the Center have been camping on the borders of Delhi since November 26 last year. They are demanding repeal of these three laws and a new law to guarantee the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of the crop.
Several rounds of talks between the farmers and the government over the impasse over these controversial laws were in vain.
National President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Naresh Tikait said on Friday that the farmers opposing the three agricultural laws of the Center will submit a memorandum to the governors of different states on Saturday demanding the withdrawal of these laws. He said that these memorandums would be addressed to President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of completion of seven months of agitation against agricultural laws.
Tractors started arriving on the Delhi-UP borders in large numbers from Thursday night. Farmer organizations can once again take out tractor march. The farmers have also rehearsed the tractor march on Friday. Earlier, on 26 January 2021, farmers took out a tractor march. There was also loss of life and property in this tractor march.
In view of the farmers’ agitation, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had decided to keep three metro stations – University, Civil Lines and Vidhan Sabha – closed on the Yellow Line for four hours from 10 am to 2 pm today. However, DMRC has not given any official information on this issue.
