Moitra Slams BJP’s Handling of Manipur Unrest

Mahua Moitra, an MP for the Trinamool Congress (TMC), criticised the BJP administration on Thursday for how it handled the unrest in Manipur, calling it the “biggest failure” of the two-engine government. She claimed that the no-confidence vote was introduced not to overthrow the government numerically but rather to end the prime minister’s “silence” on the issue. According to Moitra, no state had experienced this level of violence in the previous few decades. TMC MP Mahua Moitra criticised the BJP government for the violence in Manipur, claiming that such ethnic violence had not been seen in any state for many years. “Six thousand five hundred FIRs in three months, which state has seen this? Four thousand houses destroyed, sixty thousand people displaced, which state has seen this?” she said during the no-confidence motion debate in Lok Sabha.
