TMC’s Mukul Roy calls himself ‘BJP legislator’

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Roy has announced to join BJP again. He told the media in Delhi that he would meet Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda here. He also denied the statement of his son that he could not be traced. Roy said, I have come to Delhi on my own free will. The BJP has made all the arrangements for me here. Mukul Roy said, I am still a BJP MLA and want to stay with the party.

Mukul Roy’s decision to re-join the BJP is being considered as a major setback for the Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee. Actually, before the last assembly elections, Roy was one of the big leaders of BJP in Bengal and also became an MLA. But he joined the Trinamool after the party failed to come to power.

On Monday, Roy’s son Subhranshu spoke about his disappearance. He had said that Roy was about to take a night flight to Delhi, but there was no trace of him. He also talked about his father’s mental condition not being well and accused the BJP of doing dirty politics regarding his ailing father. Subhranshu claimed that Roy had undergone brain surgery last month and was unable to even recognize family members and close ones. Regarding this, Roy said, I am completely healthy. Till now I could not do politics completely but now I am physically fit and will do politics. He also asked his son to join BJP for the sake of the family.

We do not need such people: Shubhendu Adhikari

At the same time, when asked about the speculation about Mukul Roy joining BJP, Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Shubhendu Adhikari said that the party does not need such people. We are not interested in such people, he said. We are only interested in strengthening our booths under ‘My Booth Strongest’.

Our MPs, MLAs and other leaders are working to bring non-BJP voters in favor of our party. Bengal BJP is very self-sufficient and we don’t need any other leader.
