After the election conflagration in Tripura, the campaigning of all the parties is in full swing. While the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to save power, the Left is trying to take back its stronghold once again. The effort of the Congress is to increase its numbers from zero. This time the Tripura elections are different in many ways. The Congress has decided to contest the elections in alliance with the Left. Along with this, the entry of Tipra Motha has also made the election interesting.
Content including views, and comments which may play influencial role is banned for showing till February 14, 4 pm.
Under this restriction from February 14 till February 27 no opinion polls or exit polls can be shown to people.
However to help out voter of state, the constituent assembly has released voters helpline numbers.
Earlier Congress got only 13 seats in the Left-led alliance in Tripura elections. The party hopes that it will not repeat the previous performance this time. In the last assembly elections held in 2018, the account of Congress was also not opened. However, after Sudip Roy Burman left BJP and joined Congress last year, one seat came in the party’s account in the by-election. Sudip Roy Burman is the party’s candidate this time too.
The good thing for the Congress this time is that it has got 13 seats in its account. Among them, there are 5 seats where the party lost in 2018 by a margin of 5 thousand or less votes. Although, its focus is on 13 seats, but it is paying special attention to these 5 seats. After being in the alliance, the party does not want to make any mistake on these seats at any cost. Let’s have a look at these seats.
Two seats with a difference of less than two thousand
The Pencharthal seat is included in the 13 seats that have come in the account of the Congress. Last time Congress lost the election here by a margin of just 1373 votes. This time the party has nominated Sadhan Kumar Chakma as its candidate.
Apart from this, there is Matabari seat where in 2018 Congress missed by 1569 votes. This time here the party has nominated Pranajit Rai. Congress lost Kamalpur seat in 2018 by a margin of 2918. This time the party has nominated Ruby Gop.
Kailashahar assembly is also in those seats, where Congress lost by a margin of less than 5 thousand votes. In 2018, the margin of defeat here was 4834. Congress has fielded Birajit Sinha here this time. His opponent is Mohammad Mobeshar Ali of BJP. Mobeshar Ali is one of the two Muslim candidates of BJP on whom BJP has placed bets.
Surjamaninagar is another seat which lost by a margin of 5 thousand. Congress lost this seat by a margin of 4567 votes. Here this time the party has bet on Sushant Chakraborty. BJP’s Ram Prasad Pal is in front of him.
What were the results on the remaining 8 seats?
Apart from these five seats, Mohanpur seat is with Congress, where it lost by 5176 votes last time. Apart from this, Agartala seat was lost by 7382 votes, Town Bordovali by 11178 votes, Banamalipur by 9549 votes, Charilam by 25,550 votes, Teliamoura by 7179 votes, Karamcherra by 7336 votes and Dharmanagar by 7287 votes.
