On the second day of the US tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Joe Biden at the White House on Thursday. During this, bilateral talks were also held between the two leaders on other issues including further promotion of growing Indo-US strategic relations in areas like defence, space, clean energy. Earlier, PM Modi was welcomed with state honors at the White House. Welcoming Prime Minister Modi here, President Joe Biden said that the relationship between America and India is one of the most defining relationships in the 21st century.
A glimpse of Mini India was seen in the White House on Thursday. Hindi songs were seen playing in the White House to welcome PM Modi. Along with this, a large number of people of Indian origin were also called here, in whose hands the tricolor was seen. Indian-Americans gathered on the South Lawn raised slogans of “USA USA”, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Modi Modi’. This is the reason why PM Modi said in his address that this is the first time that the doors of the White House are open to so many Indians.
Beginning his address, PM Modi said, “First of all, I express my heartfelt gratitude to President Biden for his friendly welcome and his addressEquality under law, freedom of expression, religious pluralism, the diversity of our people these values have been strengthened and developed. Today, the 140 crore countrymen of India are honored and proud in a way by the grand welcome ceremony at the White House. This honor is also an honor for more than 4 million Indian people living in America.
Indians are increasing India’s glory in America: PM Modi
PM Modi said that after becoming the Prime Minister, I have come to the White House many times. This is the first time that the doors of the White House have been opened to the Indian-American community in such a large number. People of the Indian community are increasing the glory of India in America with their talent. You all are the real strength of our relationship. The world order is taking a new shape in the post Covid era. In this period, the friendship between India and America will play an important role in increasing the power of the whole world. Both countries are determined to work together for global peace, stability and prosperity.
Came to America three decades ago as a common man
He said that shortly from now I and US President Biden will discuss India-US relations, regional and global issues. I am sure our conversation will be positive as always. I came to America about three decades ago as a common man and then I saw the White House from outside.
PM Modi ended his address by saying ‘Jai Hind, God Bless America’.
