Yashwant Sinha, the presidential candidate for the opposition, sent his best wishes to Droupadi Murmu. Droupadi Murmu was chosen to serve as India’s fifteenth president on Thursday, July 21.
“I join my fellow citizens in congratulating Droupadi Murmu on her victory in the presidential election 2022. India hopes that as the 15th President of the Republic, she functions as the custodian of the Constitution without fear or favour,” Sinha posted a tweet.
First tribal President of India, Draupadi Murmu is 64-year-old . After three rounds of counting, the National Democratic Alliance, or NDA, nominated her, and she received more over 50% of the total vote value.
Mr. Singh announced his defeat in a one-page statement, saying, “Regardless of the results, I think the election has helped the Indian democracy in two crucial ways. First, it provided a platform for the majority of the opposing parties. This is undoubtedly urgent, so I sincerely implore them to maintain and even strengthen opposition unity after the presidential election. It must be similarly clear when the vice president is chosen.”
“Second, during my election campaign, I made an effort to draw attention to the opinions, worries, and commitments of the opposition parties on crucial issues facing the country and the general populace. I specifically expressed my grave worry with the outright and widespread use of the ED, CBI, Income Tax Department, and even the Governor’s office as weapons against opposition parties and their leaders “explained Mr. Sinha.
Yashwant Sinha thanked the opposition parties for putting him up as a presidential candidate. “I sincerely thank the leader of the Opposition political parties for choosing me as their consensus candidate in this election. I also thank all members of the Electoral College who voted for me,” Yashwant Sinha said.
As a councillor in Odisha when President-elect Murmu first entered politics, she will go down in history as the second woman and first tribal leader of India. The former governor of Jharkhand defeated Mr. Sinha with ease.
She hasn’t made any public remarks since being named the NDA’s presidential candidate on June 21.
Her numbers increased as a number of opposition groups, including the Biju Janata Dal, Shiv Sena, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, YSR Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party, and Telegu Desam Party, appeared to be backing her in the victory run. Several of these parties have previously backed Mr. Sinha.
