BJP, who returned to power in the politics of Uttar Pradesh after ending 15 years of political exile four and a half years ago, wants to keep its feet firmly established here like Gujarat. However, in the elections to be held in 2022 next year, the confusion in the BJP about the Chief Minister’s face is not yet clear. On one hand, some BJP leaders are trying to enter the election battle under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, while some leaders of the party are also increasing the confusion between the workers and the public by talking about leaving this decision to the central leadership. Is this BJP’s dilemma on CM’s face or is it a political bet?
In the 2017 assembly elections, BJP did not put forward any face for the chief minister’s post. Even though BJP had handed over the command of the party in the hands of Keshav Prasad Maurya, but the entire election was fought in the name of PM Modi. BJP got a tremendous advantage in the elections and in the history of UP, the party won the maximum number of 311 seats. Later, the Chief Minister was crowned by Yogi Adityanath, while Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma were made Deputy CMs.
Now that the political board is being laid for the next year’s assembly elections. The round of meetings is going on in BJP from Delhi to Lucknow.
Although the party has not yet publicly announced whether Yogi Adityanath will be the face of CM in the 2022 elections or whether the party will enter the electoral fray without a face like in 2017. BJP is seen divided into two factions regarding CM face. One faction is announcing to contest the election by forwarding Yogi, then the other group is creating political suspense by saying that the central leadership will decide after the elections.
Amidst the ongoing churning in Lucknow, BJP General Secretary Arun Singh has said that in Uttar Pradesh, the current CM Yogi Adityanath will be the face in the assembly elections. Putting an end to the speculation, he praised the work of CM Yogi and said, the party will contest the assembly elections under the leadership of Yogi.
In a conversation with a news channel, Singh said that the work of the UP government and CM Yogi is being praised all over the country. On the Corona front, the state government has done a great job under the leadership of CM. So the question of changing the face does not arise.
In fact, the market of discussions is hot with different statements on the question of leadership in UP. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh talked about contesting the assembly elections under the leadership of Yogi.
Whereas the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and after him senior government minister Swami Prasad Maurya had said that the decision of who will become the Chief Minister will be decided by the central leadership after the assembly elections.
