In Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann met Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday. He staked claim to form the government. He will take oath as Chief Minister on March 16 at 12:30. In the meeting of AAP MLAs in Mohali on Friday, Bhagwant Mann has been elected the leader of the party’s legislature party.
Names of many AAP MLAs including Harpal Singh Cheema, Aman Arora, Baljinder Kaur, Sarvjit Kaur Manuke, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair, Budh Ram, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, Jeevanjyot Kaur and Dr Charanjit Singh for the post of minister in the government to be formed in Punjab are in discussion.
Bhagwant Mann has invited AAP’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his swearing-in ceremony. Bhagwant Mann will take oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Nawanshahr district.
According to a statement issued by AAP, on Sunday both Mann and Kejriwal will visit Golden Temple, Durgiana Temple and Shri Ram Tirath Temple. He will also take part in a roadshow in Amritsar to celebrate AAP’s victory and thank the voters. The Aam Aadmi Party has won 92 seats in the 117-member assembly.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Singh Mann won from the Dhuri seat by a margin of over 45,000 votes.
On Friday, Bhagwant Mann aoon-to-be chief minister, reached New Delhi to meet Arvind Kejriwal at his residence in presence of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. He touched Kejriwal’s feet and sought his blessings. The AAP had a landslide win in the Punjab Assembly polls by winning 92 seats to form its government in the state with a three-fourth majority in the 117-member legislative assembly.
