This remarkable feat by Punjabi athletes has broken previous records
This remarkable feat by Punjabi athletes has broken previous records, as they have now surpassed the state’s previous highest medal count of seven gold medals, achieved in the 1951 New Delhi and 1962 Jakarta Asian Games. In fact, the last time Punjabi athletes secured such a high medal count was in the 1951 New Delhi Asian Games, where they won a total of 15 medals.
Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Indian contingent and specifically commended the Punjabi athletes for their outstanding dedication and hard work. He also disclosed that the state government had allocated a substantial sum of Rs 4.64 crore to prepare and support the 48 athletes from Punjab who participated in this year’s Asian Games. This investment in the development of sports in Punjab has evidently yielded exceptional results and brought glory to the nation.
