Renault 5 EV: Renault has unveiled the details of the 5 EV ahead of its debut in 2024. The 5 EV idea was first shown in 2021, and sometime next year, a production model will be made from it. Renault has now found out more about the production difference of the new Renault 5 after two years. Even though it doesn’t seem ready to say everything yet, it seems.
This platform is made for European B-segment electric vehicles
First of all, the French automaker says that the upcoming electric car will be the first Renault vehicle to be built on the CMF-B EV platform. This platform is made for European B-segment electric vehicles and can cut production costs by up to 30% compared to the Renault ZOE, which is said to be going away once the new Renault 5 comes out.
“From a ‘product’ point of view, the new CMF-B EV platform is a great chance because it means that the next electric Renault 5 will be fun to drive while still being very competitive for its segment.” Said Delphine De Andria, who is the Director of Product Performance for the B-EV Segment.
The future Renault 5 EV will have a multi-link rear suspension
The battery pack’s capacity hasn’t been released yet, but the automaker says it will have 400 volts and be split into four large modules. Compared to the 12-module pack in the Zoe, this means the car will be about 15 kg (33 pounds) lighter. The future Renault 5 EV will have a multi-link rear suspension, which will make it easier to drive.
Renault has made the first nine prototypes and is now testing them in different places around the world. In Arvidsjaur, a Swedish town south of the Arctic Circle, tests are being done in cold weather. Other tests are being done on private test tracks. In 2024, the production form of the 5 will go on sale.
