Rolls Royce Black Badge Ekleipsis details
Powertrain details
The limited edition is based on the performance-oriented Black Badge Ghost, which has a twin-turbo 6.75-liter V12 engine that generates 592 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic is used to distribute the power to all four wheels.
Design
The sedan’s full name is Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection. The primary exterior colour is a deep lyrical copper with a special “powdered copper pigment” treatment that creates an iridescent look when illuminated. The Mandarin accents on the bumper intakes, hand-painted coachline, centre caps, and brake callipers are similar to the colour of the sun as it partially eclipses the moon.
Luxurious interior
The bi-coloured seats’ perforated leather upholstery has a “Panoramic Sunset” pattern that mixes Mandarin and black. With 1,846 laser-etched stars that took over 100 hours to finish, the dashboard fascia depicts the stages of a total solar eclipse. The analogue watch is embellished with a brilliant 0.5-carat diamond set into the custom bezel. Designers at Rolls-Royce incorporated illuminated side sills and Mandarin piping into the door-mounted umbrellas.
The dynamic Starlight Headliner, with a dark region in the centre surrounded by 940 stars and 192 additional stars dispersed farther away, is the main attraction of the interior. Every time the doors are closed and the engine is started, this animation simulates the effect of a solar eclipse. The longest time a total solar eclipse can last is 7 minutes, 31 seconds, during which the spectacle can be seen. The headliner then switches back to the standard starry-sky effect used in all other Rolls-Royce vehicles after that period.
