Covid- 19: India has made it essential for all overseas travellers to upload a Covid RT-PCR negative report 72 hours before to boarding a flight, even if they are only passing through six high-risk nations. Previously, only travellers arriving from these nations were required to do this.

The change occurs as China struggles with its worst Covid epidemic since the pandemic’s beginning. The guidelines for overseas travellers have been announced in India for China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Singapore. The most reliable method to check virus are RT-PCR test.

The daily Covid tally in India is still modest, but authorities have increased their preperadness. The centre had urged states to make sure masks are worn in crowded locations and that Covid procedure is followed last month, ahead of Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. The need to guarantee the availability of medicinal oxygen had also been emphasised by the central government. In a high-level meeting last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that “Covid is not yet over.” In his monthly “Mann Ki Baat” radio address, he also counselled caution.
