Samajwadi Party founder and party patron Mulayam Singh Yadav’s wife Sadhna Gupta passed away on Saturday. She was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram due to lung infection. Till a few days ago, due to ill health, former Defense Minister of the country Mulayam Singh Yadav was also admitted there. Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav has reached Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on the information of Sadhna Gupta’s demise. Her mortal remains are being brought to Lucknow. Will be kept for last darshan at Mulayam Singh Yadav’s residence.
After Increase in lung infection she was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. Sadhna Gupta was the mother-in-law of BJP leader Aparna Bisht Yadav and mother of Prateek Yadav.
Sadhna Gupta’s son Prateek Yadav is in real estate business. Prateek Yadav is not active in politics. His wife Aparna Yadav entered politics. Aparna Yadav has contested the 2017 assembly elections from Lucknow’s Cantt seat.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s first wife. Sadhna Gupta was also very active in the politics of the Samajwadi Party earlier. After marrying Mulayam Singh Yadav, Sadhna Gupta, a resident of Vidnu, Auraiya, left politics. Her brother Pramod Kumar Gupta had also joined the BJP before the assembly elections.
On 23 May 2003, after the death of his first wife and Akhilesh Yadav’s mother Malti Devi, Mulayam Singh Yadav had given the status of his wife to Sadhna Gupta, who was 20 years younger than him. Mulayam Singh and Sadhna Gupta came closer because of Mulayam Singh’s mother. Mulayam Singh’s mother Murti Devi used to be ill. When he was treated at Saifai Medical College after Lucknow, Sadhna took care of her as a nurse. Here Mulayam was very impressed with the sadhana and gradually the closeness between the two grew. Even though Sadhna Gupta did not get along very well with her step-son Akhilesh Yadav, but she respected her husband’s brother Shivpal Yadav very much.
