Sawan Shivratri 2021: The month of Sawan is very important for Shiva devotees. The Shivaratri that comes in this month is also special. According to the Hindu calendar, Shivaratri falls on the Chaturdashi tithi of every month. This shivratri is known as Masik Shivratri. This time Sawan Shivratri is falling today i.e. on 6th August. Chaturdashi date will start from 06.28 pm on Friday evening, 06th August, which will end on the next day i.e. 07 August 2021 at 07.11 pm.

Method of worship
* Take a bath in the morning on the day of Sawan Shivratri, after that take a vow of fasting.
* Light a lamp in the temple of the house and anoint the Shivling with Ganga water.
* If there is no Ganges water, then you can also anoint Bhole Baba with clean
water.
* If there is no Shivling in the house, then remember Bhole Baba while praying.
* Perform aarti to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
*Offer offerings to Lord Shankar as per your wish.Offer only satvik food
to God.
*Include something sweet in the bhog.
Material of worship
Pancha sweets, flowers, five fruits, five nuts, gems, silver, dakshina, utensils of worship, Malayagiri, mischief, curd, pure native ghee, Ganga water, holy water, perfume, smell roli, bilvapatra, honey, datura, hemp, plum , Gold, Manjari, Barley hairs, Basil dal, Mauli Janeu, Mandar flowers, Cow’s raw milk, Reed juice, Pancha Ras, Camphor, Incense, Deep, Cotton, Sandalwood, Ingredients for the makeup of Shiva and Mother Parvati etc.
Things to remember
*Do not wear black clothes on Shivratri.
* Do not eat sour things.
* After fasting for the whole day, worship Goddess Parvati and Lord
Shiva along with singing aarti and break the fast after lighting the lamp.
* Do not bring meat and liquor in the house on this day.
