No one should walk around the cremation ground or graveyard on the new moon day. At this time the evil spirits become active and the person is not able to face them. A mentally weak person easily comes under the influence of these evil forces.
To get the blessings of the ancestors on the new moon day, there should be absolutely no atmosphere of sorrow in the house. Avoid fights today and do not speak bitter words at all.

Avoid having sex on the day of Somvati Amavasya. If husband and wife have sex on this day without keeping restraint, then the child born out of that relationship will never be happy.
Worshiping Peepal on the new moon day gives benefits. But one should avoid touching the Peepal tree on any day other than Saturday. So today only worship the tree but don’t touch it.
Stay away from alcohol, meat etc. on this day. Do not shave, cut hair and cut nails on the day of Somvati Amavasya.
If you have kept a fast today, avoid doing makeup and adopt simplicity. On this day one should sleep on a mat and should not apply oil.
