BSA: With the recently acquired funds, Mahindra’s high-end two-wheeler company, Classic Legends, intends to increase the number of models offered under the Jawa and Yezdi brands and explore the possibility of introducing the BSA brand to the Indian market. Read on to know more.
Classic Legends likely to bring BSA to India
With a target date of the next 12 to 18 months, Classic Legends is nearing the completion of preparations for the introduction of BSA motorbikes into the Indian market. In 2018, BSA, which has a lengthy history dating back to 1861, was purchased by the Mahindra Group.
With a concentration on producing BSA’s electric motorcycles at the Pithampur facility in Madhya Pradesh, the development plans call for introducing BSA in important markets including Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and India. The EVs are anticipated to be released in the first half of 2025, at the same time as Royal Enfield’s entry into the EV market.
Also, M&M said in December 2023 that it will be investing a significant sum of Rs 875 crore in Classic Legends over the next two to three years, with some of the funds coming from outside sources. There are plans to expand the dealership network to 500 locations and upgrade the Yezdi and Jawa portfolio by 2024.
