Suzuki Jimny in Japan
The Indian Jimny is not the same as the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Jimny. The JDM Jimny is made by Suzuki at its Kosai plant in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, and the Indian Jimny is made by Maruti Suzuki at its Gurgaon plant in Delhi-National Capital Region. The JDM Jimny only has three doors, but the Indian Jimny has five. While the Indian Jimny receives this function, the JDM Jimny additionally receives the ‘Suzuki Safety Support ADAS suite.
Although the Indian Jimny has a bigger 4-cylinder 1.5L petrol engine (102 bhp, 134 Nm, 5MT, 4AT), it lacks drive modes, turbocharging, and a turbo intercooler.
Why do we pay more?
This Rs. 4.87 lakh covers two doors and a longer wheelbase but does without an ADAS suite and additional engine hardware like turbocharging, turbo intercooler, and drive modes. India-spec Jimny’s value can be decided by the buyer.
