Tata Blackbird: Tata Motors wants to steal the show from the Hyundai Creta because its SUVs, the Punch and the Nexon, have done so well. Tata is planning to make a new C-segment SUV to compete with cars like the Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, and more. The name “Blackbird” was heard around the auto industry, and we will talk about it today. Let’s talk about the mythical Tata Blackbird.
The project “Blackbird” was cancelled
When we look at India’s C-segment category, we can see that it has some good cars with a lot of features. So, if Tata wants to compete in this market, it needs to bring something just as good. This job was for the Blackbird to do. Tata was going to work with a Chinese company called “Cherry” to make a car like the Creta. But because of recent political problems between India and China, this partnership fell apart, and project “Blackbird” was cancelled.

Still, he was excited to buy a C-segment SUV. Getting rid of Blackbird was like going back one step, but Tata knew that it had to bring a C-SUV no matter what. Tata went back to Nexon’s X1 platform and changed it to fit this segment’s needs. What came out of it was a new coupe SUV with all the latest features. Curvv is the name of this new SUV, that was displayed earlier this year. This new car, which is based on an updated version of the X1 platform, will be a big step forward for the local automaker.
This new SUV from Tata will probably have all the important SUV features, and Tata has said that the production car will look a lot like the concept car. To be exact, at 97%, this is probably one of the most similar production models to its concept.
Tata Curvv is likely to have ventilated seats
The next Tata Curvv will look like a coupe SUV. This means that the roof would get narrower, which could make headroom in the back less. Aside from that, if we look at the list of features, this has to be on par with the competition. It is likely to have ventilated seats, a big infotainment screen, a digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, and more.
When it comes to the engine, Tata can add a newer version of the 1.2-liter turbo petrol. This new version should have 140bhp more power than the old one. Also, it is working on a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine, which is likely to make its debut in the facelifts of the Harrier and Safari. With a top power of 160bhp, this engine could also be a strong choice. If we’re talking about diesel, the Nexon has a 1.5-liter diesel.
Expected price of Tata Curvv
One thing to keep in mind is that the Curvv would come out first with a battery. This electric vehicle set-up should have a real-world range of 400 km. Tata is likely to release this electric drivetrain at the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024. Also, the ICE options might be available 6–8 months after the Curvv EV goes on sale. Some reports also say that a CNG option might be added. The price will likely be between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 22 lakh.
