Tata Curvv: At the 2023 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, Tata Motors showcased a variety of innovative models and concepts that are almost ready for production. In addition to them, Tata also showcased two brand-new direct-injection petrol engines that will be incorporated into a variety of current and upcoming products. They are the petroleum 1.2L DI turbo and 1.5L DI turbo engines. They will reportedly be able to run on an E20 fuel blend and meet stricter emission requirements when they make their debut. The larger turbo engine might make its debut in the Sierra by the middle of this decade, while the 1.2-litre TGDi petrol engine will premiere in the forthcoming Curvv as early as next year.
All about the new engines
In comparison to the current models, the powertrains of the next generation will be more rigidly built and offer better performance and fuel efficiency. The dual cam phasing, integrated exhaust manifold, and variable oil pump are all features of the engines made of aluminium. According to the manufacturer, the water-cooled VGT would aid in providing higher low-end torque.
Also, They are outfitted with new timing and valve chains for a longer service life. The 1.2-litre direct injection turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine built for the Curvv will produce 225 Nm of maximum torque between 1,700 and 3,500 rpm and 125 horsepower at 5,000 rpm. It will have 55 Nm greater torque and a modest increase in power over the Nexon’s current turbo 1.2 engine.

Additionally, The engine might eventually take the place of the current Revotron mill in models like Nexon after making its debut in Curvv. The larger 1.5-litre four-pot DI turbo petrol engine will produce 280 Nm of peak torque at 2,000-3,500 rpm and 170 horsepower at 5,000 rpm. Also, There will be manual and automatic transmission choices for both engines. The 1.5-litre engine might be saved for more upscale models like the forthcoming Sierra.
It will probably be installed on the Harrier and Safari soon because both midsize SUVs are currently only equipped with a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre turbo-four-cylinder diesel engine with 173 horsepower.
