Tata Motors: Given that they can accommodate nearly twice as many passengers as their single-deck counterparts, double-deck buses have proven to be among the most intelligent transportation options. Our single-deck buses are frequently carrying almost twice as many passengers as their designated seating capacity. A double-decker bus has a novelty element and will likely prove to be highly attractive. Tata Motors, the biggest producer of commercial vehicles in India, has staked a bet on this genre as well and has filed for an Indian patent on its design.
Tata Motors’ electric double-decker bus
Based on a two-axle chassis, Tata’s double-decker electric bus has a potential length of 9 metres. The front and back of the structure each have huge windows and doors for entry and exit.
There are no known technical specifications for the electric double-decker bus. It might, though, utilise an already-in-place electric drivetrain. A 124 kWh battery pack that provides a 150 km driving range powers the Tata Ultra 9m electric bus. The bus can travel at a top speed of 75 kilometres per hour thanks to the electric motors’ 194 BHP of continuous power and 1145 Nm of torque.
