Toyota Fortuner and Hilux: Toyota has made more announcements regarding a brand-new powertrain that will be used in its lineup of utility vehicles around the world. In this article, we will tell you all about this upcoming powertrain.
Toyota Fortuner and Hilux to soon come with a hybrid powertrain
The next-generation Toyota Fortuner will have a mild hybrid diesel powertrain in addition to a 48-volt mild hybrid battery system for its 2.8l diesel engine. The mild hybrid 48-volt diesel powertrain will take the place of the diesel Fortuner, which will be phased out in favour of a more fuel-efficient version. It is significant to remember that the current generation Fortuner is built on the IMV platform, but the models of the following generation would be built on a more flexible architecture that serves as the foundation for the newest Toyota SUVs sold around the world.
The Toyota Hilux is expected to get the same powertrain.
