Toyota: By the end of 2024, Toyota plans to start manufacturing its groundbreaking steer-by-wire technology, which it successfully tested on the Lexus RZ. In this article, we will tell you all you must know about this revolutionary technology.
Toyota’s Steer-By-Wire
In order to offer the steering a smoother and more natural feel, the 200-degree steering ratio has replaced the 150-degree ratio in the steer-by-wire system, which lacks a mechanical link between the steering wheel and the wheels.
Additionally, Toyota is developing Neo Steer, a step up from steer-by-wire that places the brake and accelerator controls on the steering wheel. The goal of this is to provide “mobility for all”—that is, to enable drivers who are unable to use foot controls—but it is still in the early phases of development and has no specific production date.
Cars that will get this feature
Originally, Toyota electric vehicles, such as the Toyota bZ4X and the Lexus RZ, will be able to choose from a variety of steering-by-wire options. China has exceeded Europe in terms of by-wire steering system regulations, but the technology has been designed to comply with the tightest laws in the world.
