UGC clears all confusion on Dual Degree program: UGC Chairperson Jagdish Kumar interacted with the media regarding Dual Degree Program. Actually, there was an atmosphere of confusion in the minds of the students regarding the dual degree. UGC has cleared this doubt now. UGC has issued guidelines regarding joint degree and dual degree programs. According to the UGC, public feedback was taken even before making rules regarding these two degree programs. Only after that these rules have been made.
According to the UGC, under this program, Indian students will be allowed to take credit from foreign institutions. This credit can be taken from foreign institutions up to 30 percent. On the other hand, foreign students will also be able to get 30 percent credit from Indian University. Under this, the Indian Higher Education Institute will give the degree. Along with this, students will get a chance to study Abroad for 1 to 2 semesters. After which the foreign institute will give the certificate. At present, there are about 4 crore students in Indian institutions, which are likely to increase to 10 crores. Actually there were no joint degrees earlier, but this time it is getting good response.
Now the question comes that what kind of institutes come under these rules?
Colleges with 01 or higher in first NAAC grading
Top 1000 Universities in 2nd NIRF Ranking or QS Ranking
Top 100 colleges according to 3rd NIRF ranking
According to the rules of UGC, both Indian and foreign institutions both will participate in the dual degree program.
Information will be available on website soon
Both Indian and foreign institutes will give certificates along with degrees. The attendance of Indian students, Indian Institute and Foreign University will be decided according to their rules. Questions are being asked about keeping this degree program in online mode. But it is better to study online and get experience by taking physical education. These new rules will soon be put on the official website of UGC.
