Ultraviolette: Hero Motocorp along with Harley Davidson recently launched the X440 in the Indian market. The bike was loved by the public and was welcomed with open arms. However, According to a recent source, Ultraviolette Automotive has filed official objections against Hero MotoCorp’s X 440 name trademark. Ultraviolette Automotive appears to be concerned that the moniker X 440 may conflict with one of its own trademarks, X44.

Ultraviolette, which at the moment sells the F77 electric motorcycle, registered a trademark for the ‘X44’ brand in September 2022. The patent office has since approved the trademark.

About two months later, Hero MotoCorp applied for the ‘X440‘ moniker, which is now used for its locally-built cruiser co-developed with Harley-Davidson. According to the national filings page, the trademark has yet to be accepted, and its current status is ‘opposed’.

Hero’s say in the matter

As of yet, the leading domestic two-wheeler manufacturer has not responded or issued an official statement. According to the report, the brand has only 60 days to respond to the objection lodged by Ultraviolette.
