On Tuesday, Prayagraj Police made a significant development in the investigation into the murder of Umesh Pal by seizing an iPhone, a register, and two Aadhar cards from the residence of convicted criminal Atiq Ahmed in Kasari Masari.
On the basis of the evidence of Rakesh Lala, Atiq’s accountant, who was taken into jail alongside Atiq, the police were able to recover the items.
Five accused, including Atiq’s accountant Rakesh Lala, had been arrested by the Dhoomanganj Police of Prayagraj.
Rakesh Lala spoke to the police about the iPhone and the register where all the transactions were made during the interrogation.
The seized iPhone will be sent to the forensic lab for analysis since the police believe it was used in the murder of Umesha Pal.
The old register that was taken from Atiq’s house had important information concerning real estate deals that took place between several real estate dealers and Atiq and his accomplices.
According to Rakesh Lala and Cash Ahmed, Shaista Parveen, the gangster’s wife, gave them the cash and weapons that were discovered in Atiq’s office.
Atiq Ahmed, a gangster-turned-politician, and two other accused were found guilty by a court in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, of kidnapping Umesh Pal, the key witness in the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, in 2006.
Atiq Ahmed, Dinesh Pasi, and Khan Saulat Hanif were all given life sentences by the MP-MLA court, along with a fine of Rs. 1 lakh.
The jailed don has received his first conviction
On February 24, Umesh Pal was shot dead close to his residence in Prayagraj. In the assault, one of his bodyguards was injured, and he eventually died from his injuries.
Umesh Pal and one of his two police bodyguards were shot from behind on camera by two men as they were getting out of a SUV.
The main suspects in the murder of Raju Pal are Atiq Ahmed, his brother, and former Legislator Ashraf.
After defeating former Atiq Ahmed’s younger brother Khalid Azim to win the Allahabad (West) assembly seat in his first election, Raju Pal was killed a few months later.
