Vande Bharat: According to official sources, Indian Railways is prepared to produce the Vande Bharat sleeper train with a new design. The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) will produce the new Vande Bharat sleeper coaches, reports said. According to a source, the first Vande Bharat train with newly developed sleeper coaches will be introduced by February 2024.

Vande Bharat Sleeper train details

A total of 823 passenger berths and 34 crew berths are available on the sleeper Vande Bharat. Instead of having four bathrooms, each coach will only have three, along with a small pantry.

According to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the prototype of the Vande Bharat sleeper edition will be completed in December 2023 and will be introduced in March 2024.

The 10 sleeper Vande Bharat trains that BEML is now building for ICF were designed in collaboration with ICF, and BEML has finalised the design.

With the Vande Bharat sleeper trains, passengers will be able to travel vast distances on these high-speed trains overnight, which would constitute a substantial improvement to the Indian Railways fleet.

Design and comfort

According to the railway minister, the final design would be used by both TMH and Titagarh, so all sleeper Vande Bharat trains will have the same aesthetic.

The sleeping berth was created with better comfort in mind. Even the staircase for the upper berth has been made to be simple for a passenger to use.
