Volkswagen: Luckily, someone has put a stop to the abundance of digital buttons in our modern vehicles. Attempting to use them can be a distraction and a curse, and as we all know, distractions can result in accidents.
Volkswagen is now going to do a complete 180-degree turn and reinstate tactile buttons and controls.
Volkswagen to readopt physical buttons
Some of the screen controls in cars can be quite difficult to use. However, rumours say that everything is about to change. Volkswagen is going to be among the first to jump off the mark.
There are rumours that Volkswagen’s interior design will be influenced by the ID 2all idea going forward, which will mean that the familiar physical buttons and controls will return.

As recently stated by VW CEO Thomas Schafer, the touchscreen strategy “did a lot of damage” to the company’s reputation. A rotary controller in the central tunnel operates the touchscreen, akin to BMW’s iDrive, while a row of conventional (and lighted) buttons regulates the climate.
It has a screen for driving information in addition to the main infotainment touchscreen in the centre. In addition to noting that “customers had a different view in Europe” compared to other international markets, Watola stated that having a display like this in the driver’s line of sight is essential for safety. Volkswagen is aiming to phase out hard plastics, glue, leather, and chrome, so there’s also a material revolution going on. Since the ID 2all aims to be sustainable, almost every surface is soft to the touch and combines textiles and alcantara. Certain woods and metals are also used rarely.
