Volvo: By 2030, a top company executive stated that Volvo India wants 50% of its cars to run on non-fossil fuels.
At the Digital Acceleration and Transformation Expo (DATE), Kamal Bali, the Managing Director in India and President of the Volvo Group, stated that the company’s goal is to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
Volvo India’s plan
Volvo India aims to have 50% of its vehicles powered by non-fossil fuels by 2030. This aligns with the company’s environmentally conscious objectives, as revealed by Kamal Bali, the managing director and president of the Volvo Group in India. Bali highlighted Volvo’s commitment to becoming carbon-free by 2040 during his speech at the Digital Acceleration and Transformation Expo. The goal of the corporation is very clear: by 2030, half of its vehicles will be powered by non-fossil fuels, increasing the overall environmental friendliness and sustainability of the automotive sector. Bali emphasised that this measure is part of Volvo’s broader sustainability plan, which stipulates that by 2040, 50% of cars still on the road will have emissions that are not zero.
“At Volvo, we have set the target that by 2030, 50 per cent of our vehicles will be non-fossil fuel-based. They will be non-polluting. Balance 50 per cent will become non-zero emissions by 2040,” Bali said.
He said that 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions come from the transportation sector and that significant environmental impact would result from automakers making a commitment to cut emissions.
“We have also taken pledge that 35 per cent of all employees at leadership level and other levels will be women. We see this as part of sustainability,” Bali said.
