Weather Update today: These days there is severe heat in many parts of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted a severe heatwave for the entire north and central India for the next 4 days. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a forecast of severe heat wave in the capital Delhi on Friday and the maximum temperature will be around 44 degree Celsius.
The IMD has already issued an orange alert with its forecast for Friday. According to the IMD, the minimum temperature in Delhi on Friday was recorded at 25.8 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
According to the bulletin issued by the IMD at 8.30 am, ‘West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jammu, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Heat wave conditions are likely over western parts of West Bengal, Telangana and Odisha.
According to the Meteorological Department, the humidity level in the air stood at 28 percent at 8.30 am. According to the IMD, hot winds are declared as ‘loo’ when the temperature in the plains is more than 40 degrees Celsius or 4.5 degrees Celsius above normal. A ‘severe heatwave’ is declared when the temperature is 6.4 degrees above normal.
Delhi recorded the hottest day of April in 12 years on Thursday with a maximum temperature of 43.5 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 43.7 degree Celsius on 18 April 2010.
Senior meteorologist R.K. Jenamani had said earlier in the day that there has been no significant rainfall over Delhi-NCR and the entire North-West Indian plains after February 25 and relief is expected in these areas first on May 2, due to western disturbances. Significant rain is expected.
