West Indies skipper Jason Holder has won the toss and decided to bowl first in the second test match of the series. West Indies made no changes in their playing 11 while England made 3 changes. As expected skipper Joe Root comes back for Joe Denly, Sam Curran for James Anderson but a surprise entry of Chris Woakes in place of Jofra Archer is the talking point.
Jofra Archer breached the team’s biosecure protocols
Pacer Jofra Archer dropped from the side and they made the announcement just a few hours before the commencement of the match. Archer breached the team’s biosecure protocols. ECB confirmed that after the Southampton Test, he went home when players asked to travel Manchester directly without messing around anywhere else. Archer was caught and he is now in isolation for the next 5 days. In meanwhile he will also undergo 2 Covid-19 tests. If he is tested negative in both the tests then the self-isolation period will be lifted. ECB also confirmed that they informed West Indies team management about the entire incident and now the hosts are pleased with the measures taken.
“I am extremely sorry for what I have done, I have put, not only myself but the whole team and management in danger, I fully accept the consequence of my actions and I want to apologize to everyone in the bio-secure bubble. It deeply pains me to be missing the Test match, especially with the series poised. I feel like I have let both teams down, and again I am sorry”, said the English pacer.
West Indies to eye on the series victory
West Indies are on top of England and now they eyed on the series victory. The match was delayed for two hours because of rain and now the surface is much helpful to the fast bowlers than earlier. It was a good toss to win for the visitors and the kind of fast bowling attack Jason’s brigade comprises could make a huge difference in the result of this series as well. With the return of the regular captain Joe Root, hosts are confident about their batting strength. In the end, it’s going to be a good competition for cricket.
