Dry Eyes: In the era of technology, where a person spends most of his time on mobile, TV and laptop, the eyes have to face many problems. The most common eye condition is dry eyes, in which they do not produce enough tears. Due to this situation, there is a lack of lubricant in the eyes which leads to discomfort. About 12% of the world’s population is affected by dry eyes. There is currently no cure for dry eyes, but there are ways to treat the symptoms of the disease.
Treatments for the symptoms of dry eyes include eye drops, prescription medications, or surgical procedures. Researchers at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas have found a probiotic bacterial strain that can treat dry eyes through a mouse model.
Causes of dry eyes
Healthy eyes produce tears all the time so that they get lubricated, dust gets removed from them and avoids any kind of infection. Sometimes the eyes are not able to produce enough tears, which leads to dry eyes. This can happen due to many reasons which include pollution, age above 50 years, excessive use of contact lenses and others.

Burning or itching in the eyes
Feeling like there is something in the eyes
Trouble wearing contact lenses
Eye discomfort or redness
Blurry vision and others
Omega-3 and vitamin A is beneficial for dry eyes
Previous studies have shown that in addition to medical treatment of dry eyes, improving your diet can prevent this disease. According to research conducted in 2019, omega-3 has proved to be very effective in improving dry eyes. Another study found that short-term vitamin A supplementation improved tear production in patients with dry eyes.
