White House denounces Russian minister Sergei Lavrov for Holocaust comparison: ‘How dare he…’

Sergei Lavrov: The White House denounced Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday for Holocaust comparison. Lavrov said that the United States had assembled a coalition of European countries to solve ‘the Russian question’ like Adolf Hitler had sought a ‘final solution’ to eradicate Europe’s Jews. The White House called Sergei’s statement ‘truly offensive’, said reports.

“How dare he compare anything to the Holocaust, anything. Let alone a war that they started,” White House national security spokesman John Kirby said.

‘It’s so absurd’

“It’s almost so absurd that it is not worth responding to, other than the truly offensive manner in which he tried to cast us in terms of Hitler and the Holocaust,” he added.

“There would be no need for the United States or Western nations to provide these kinds of weapons and capabilities to Ukraine if Ukraine hadn’t been invaded in an unprovoked way, by Russian military forces,” he said.

Sergei Lavrov said the United States was using the same tactic as Napoleon and the Nazis in its bid to subjugate Europe to destroy Russia. The minister said that Washington was using Ukraine as a proxy and that “they are waging war against our country with the same task: the ‘final solution’ of the Russian question.”

“Just as Hitler wanted a ‘final solution’ to the Jewish question, now, if you read Western politicians… they clearly say Russia must suffer a strategic defeat,” he said. Lavrov’s comments sparked a furore.

Similar remarks earlier too

Earlier too the Russian minister had made similar remarks on Hitler that triggered uproar. In May last year, he said the Nazi leader had “Jewish blood”, drawing angry protests from Israel.

The ‘Final Solution’ was Hitler’s blueprint for the Holocaust, which led to the systematic murder of 6 million Jews, as well as members of other minorities.
