World Hepatitis Day 2022: Hepatitis is a serious liver disease that can be caused by a variety of viruses, bacteria or parasites. Liver cancer is also the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. And while there are many ways to prevent and treat hepatitis, there is currently no cure for the disease.
World Hepatitis Day 2022 is celebrated every year on 28 July all over the world. So that more and more people can be made aware about this disease.
What is Hepatitis?
Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver. There are five main types of hepatitis viruses – A, B, C, D and E. Hepatitis B and C cause chronic disease in millions of people globally, and together with liver cirrhosis, liver cancer and liver cancer are the most common causes. Even there is a danger of death.
World Hepatitis Day theme
This year hepatitis theme is ‘Bringing Hepatitis Care closer to you’ which aims to create awareness, care and health facilities about Hepatitis.
This day helps in raising awareness about the dangers of hepatitis. Motivates people to avoid disease and get treatment. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), on World Hepatitis Day, everyone is reminded that there is still much that can be done to fight this pandemic, and we need your help.
According to a WHO report, as of 2019, an estimated 116 million people are living with hepatitis B and 10 million hepatitis C in the western Pacific, in Japan, the Philippines, India.
Whereas in the western Pacific, only 18% of people living with hepatitis B have been diagnosed and 5% have started treatment. For hepatitis C, 25% of people are diagnosed and 10% have received treatment.
