This unique initiative offers monthly scholarships, ranging from INR 5000 to INR 7000, to aspirants of scientific education. To avail of this benefit, applicants are required to pass an examination conducted under the programme. The scholarship is awarded to successful candidates for the duration of their college education or until the completion of their research, whichever comes first.
Who can Apply?
KVPY is open for students who have taken admission in science streams in class 11th, 12th, and undergraduate courses during the academic session of 2022-23. Applicants are required to pass the aptitude test conducted under the initiative. For the scholarship to be granted, students from the general category need to score an average of 60 percent in science and maths subjects in their 12th grade, while students from SC, ST, and PWD categories need to score 50 percent.
he Fellowship Grant under KVPY
The fellowship amount under KVPY varies depending on the educational level of the students. During the first to third years of undergraduate courses (BSc. BS, B.Stat, B.Maths/Int. MSc./Int.M.S.), students can avail a monthly fellowship of INR 5000 and an annual fellowship of INR 20000. In the fourth and fifth years (M.Sc./Int. MSc./M.S./M.Sat./M.Math), the monthly fellowship is INR 7000, and the annual fellowship is INR 28000.
Necessary Documents and Application Process
For applying to the KVPY, students need to have some essential documents ready, including Aadhar Card, caste certificate, disability certificate, passport-sized photos, bank passbook, and mobile number. The application process is straightforward and can be carried out online through the official website of KVPY.
