Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE Class 12 Board Examination 2021 are likely to be cancelled. As per reports, the Ministry of Education is reviewing the present situation and is considering the cancellation of the board examinations. CBSE is expected to review and announce its decision within the next two weeks.
Sources from the Education Ministry has said that there are high chances that the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 can get cancelled.
However, there has been no official confirmation from the CBSE and the board exam candidates must keep an eye on the official CBSE website at cbse.gov.in for any updates relating to the exams.
A senior ministry official was quoted by The Times of India as saying, “Given the current situation, there is a possibility of scrapping the exams altogether. CBSE will review the situation and probably would have to work out an alternative assessment scheme for the Class 12 students.” It has also been asserted by a senior CBSE official that it is unlikely that the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 are going to be conducted soon given the current situation in the country.
Echoing similar sentiments, Ashok Pandey, director, Ahlcon Group of Schools, told the daily that exams can not be conducted in June. However, former CBSE chairperson Ashok Ganguly exuded confidence that the situation would improve and class 12 board exams 2021 can be held in July. On the other hand, other experts advised the board to conduct exams in online mode.
Notably, a number of students on micro-blogging site Twitter had urged the Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ to either defer the exams or calculate their marks on the basis of the assessment plan of class 10. Using the hashtag #saveboardstudents, class 12 students have launched an online campaign to press their demands.
“It is impossible for us to write boards this year please evaluate us just like the 10th graders,” a student said. “Other countries have cancelled all exams, but our Indian government is not cancelling exams. Please take the right decision by thinking about students’ present situation”, another student tweeted.
Assessment Plan of Class 10
A few weeks ago, CBSE released the assessment plan to mark the class 10 students after their board exams were cancelled owing to COVID-19. According to the plan, 10 marks are for Unit Tests, 30 marks for mid-term exams, 40 marks for pre boards and 20 for internal assessment.
The CBSE has further asked the schools to form an eight-member committee for the class 10 results consisting of the Principal and seven teachers. The committee will also have two external teachers from neighbouring school to monitor the results.
