The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday said that the class 10th and 12th examinations for individual (private) candidates will be held from August 16 to September 15.
The board refused to declare the results of individual candidates on the basis of the alternative evaluation policy for regular students, saying that neither the schools nor the CBSE has any previous evaluation record for these students. CBSE’s controller of examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj said, “The examinations will be conducted from August 16 to September 15 and their result will also be declared in the earliest possible time so that they do not face any difficulty in admission to higher education.Earlier in the day, a group of individual candidates staged a protest outside the CBSE headquarters alleging disparity between them and regular students.
Understand the notification notice by the board as –
Regular student –
Those who are studying in CBSE affiliated schools and appearing for 10th or 12th class exam for the first time.
In case of regular students, the schools have a record of the assessment done by the schools during the current year.
Hence, their result is to be declared on the basis of evaluation policy approved by the Supreme Court.
In case of regular students, the schools have conducted a unit test, mid-term and pre-board examination and based on these, the performance of the students will be evaluated.
Private student –
Those who were earlier regular students in CBSE and could not pass in first or second attempt or want to appear for improvement or in additional subject.
Also, some candidates are private candidates from Delhi who are allowed to appear in CBSE board exams like correspondence and women candidates.
Actually, schools and CBSE do not have old records of private students, hence, their result cannot be prepared on the basis of current evaluation policy.
It is important to note that the issue of private students was also discussed in the Supreme Court and thereafter the policy was framed wherein it was agreed to conduct a written test to declare the result of private candidates. The issue was discussed in detail and the court agreed with all the petitioners. Under this scheme, the board will conduct examinations for private category students from August 16, 2021 to September 15, 2021. At the same time, the result will also be declared in minimum time to save them from any difficulty regarding admission in higher education institutions.
