The University Grants Commission has released the Exam guidelines and the Academic Calendar for 2021-22 for the current session students and the new admissions.
According to the guidelines issued by the UGC, the universities are required to complete the Final Year/ Semester Examinations by August 31, 2021, while the admissions for the new session Undergraduate students will commence only after the release of the CBSE, ICSE, and state board class 12 Results as directed by the Supreme Court.
The new academic session is to commence on October 1, 2021.
The circular stated that University Admissions 2021-22 to the first year courses/programmes shall be completed no later than September 30, 2021. The last date for admissions to fill up the remaining vacant seats shall be October 31, 2021, and the relevant documents of the qualifying examination can be accepted up to December 31, 2021.
The academic session 2021-2022 shall commence latest by October 1, 2021, for first semester/year students.
Apart from the calendar, UGC has also stated that in view of the pandemic, the Universities shall not charge any cancellation fees for withdrawal of admission till October 31. Post that, the universities can deduct a maximum of Rs. 1000 as processing fee if the student withdraws of cancels admission till December 31, 2021.
UGC has left the mode of teaching as per the relevant guidelines and protocols in the state at the time. The teaching and learning, it states, would continue in blended mode. Also, the guidelines are subject to advisories from apex statutory bodies/councils concerned, e.g., AICTE, NCTE, BCI, NMC, DCI, INC, PCI, AYUSH etc. regarding examinations and academic calendars.
