Colleges and universities will be closed in Haryana till January 12

Amidst the fear of the new variant Omicron, the cases of Coronavirus in the country have started increasing once again. Various states have started implementing restrictions to control the epidemic. The Haryana government has decided to close all the colleges and universities in the state till January 12. However, the staff will be present in the college/university and online classes will be held regularly. This decision has been taken in view of the spurt in the cases of Corona.

Haryana Higher Education Department issued an official order in this regard on Sunday. The order said, “Government and private colleges and universities will remain closed for students till January 12. However, the staff will continue to visit the college/university as usual and online classes will be taken by the faculty from the institutes as per the time table. The principal will ensure that classes are held online regularly.”

The order said, “All COVID protocols including wearing of masks and vaccination will be strictly followed by the employees. Recruitment examinations and entrance examinations will continue in the universities.”

Students are allowed to stay in hostels. However, the rules related to COVID and the rule of social distance will have to be strictly followed.

According to the state health bulletin, 577 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Haryana in the last 24 hours on Sunday. With this, the total number of infected in the state increased to 7,74,917. The number of active cases is 2,400. With no death due to corona, the death toll remains at 10,064.
