The Delhi government’s Directorate of Education (DoE) has suspended the recognition of Delhi Public School (DPS) in Rohini for breaking rules by raising fees during the academic year 2021–2022.
In a statement released by the Department of Education, the school admin claimed that by raising the tuition and sending legal notifications to parents, it had violated both the Delhi High Court’s ruling and departmental policies.
“The school authorities neglected its assigned duties and seem to be indulging in profiteering, commercialization, capitation, and exploitation of parents by charging unwarranted fees,” the DoE statement said.
“They violated Rule 50(xvii) and 50 (xix) of Delhi School Education Rules, 1973 by not providing relevant documents and records to the inspection team who visited the school premises on November 7,” it added.
It stated that the excess student fees would be refunded. However, the school will be permitted to complete the 2022–2023 academic year. The department told the students that the suspension of recognition will not have an impact on them while they are enrolled in the current session.
DPS Rohini has been instructed not to accept any new students for the academic year 2023–2024.
After the session is ended, all pupils at the school will be transferred, with the parent’s permission, to recognized DPS Society schools in the area or government schools in the area.

According to the DoE, there have been complaints about the school’s increased fees for the academic year 2021–2022 and increased price arrears for the year 2020–21.
It was charged with refusing to let students receive a 15% fee reduction.
The school administration was instructed not to raise any fees for the academic years 2018–19 and 2019–20, to roll back any fees that had been raised, and to refund or amend any fees that had been charged in excess of the pricing structure that the school had presented in 2015–16.
According to the DoE statement, “The school filed its response on the subject and it was not satisfactory.”
