IIT Kanpur: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT) has signed MoU with District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT). Under this, IIT will develop a land and water restoration plan for Angul district of Odisha.
MoU signed between IIT and District Mineral Foundation Trust
IIT Kanpur will work to help Odisha’s Angul district in developing a land and water restoration plan. In this regard, recently a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between IIT and District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) Angul to develop a land and water restoration plan for Angul, Odisha and undertake a mega project. Under the MoU, IIT will assist Angul district in restoring land and water resources affected by mining by leveraging infrastructure and technology expertise.
Odisha is resource-rich region
IIT Director Professor Abhay Karandikar said, Angul district in Odisha is a very resource-rich region, which needs some assistance in the restoration of its land and water resources. We are pleased to lead the effort to develop a land and water restoration plan for the region.

Resources and Expertise
Pro. The Rajiv Sinha-led team will leverage the resources and expertise of our institute to achieve the stated goals of the project. The project is expected to make a significant contribution towards the development of a policy document for land use, water budgeting and utilization planning for Angul district based on demand and supply management and contributing to the economy of the region.
