In a unique step, IIT Patna will begin offering up to six short-term courses with practical instruction on Monday. Undergraduate and postgraduate students, teaching professionals and research scholars, entrepreneurs and industrial working professionals are likely to enrol in the courses being offered for the first time under the direction of the Foundation for Innovators in Science and Technology (FIST), a body established under the initiative of the Union ministry of science and technology.
The primary goal of this short-term hands-on training session, according to Praveen Kumar, chief executive officer of FIST and programme coordinator, is to impart information and expertise about the digitization of industry.

In comparison to previous practises, modern industries adopt current technologies far more effectively. The training programme will provide participants the chance to work with upcoming technology that businesses will use. The participants’ abilities and technical knowledge would also be improved, he added.
A five-day course on 3D printing (12-16 June), five days of practical instruction in CNC and abrasive waterjet machining (26-30 June), five days of instruction in reverse engineering software (3-7 July), four days of instruction in entrepreneurship management (10-14 July), five days of instruction in Industry 4.0 (17-21 July), and five days of practical instruction in industrial robotics and automation (7-11 August) are among the courses offered.
Each of these courses costs Rs. 5000 for students, Rs. 10,000 for teachers, and Rs. 15,000 for those in the business industry..
