NEET-UG Exam in Manipur Postponed Due to Law-and-Order Situation

Manipur violence: The NTA (National Testing Agency) informed on Saturday that the NEET-UG exam, which was planned for Sunday in Manipur, has been postponed due to the law-and-order situation.The exams for the candidates who received Manipur exam centres would take place at a later time.

The Minister of State for Education has written to the National Testing Agency

In light of the circumstances in Manipur, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, has written to the National Testing Agency, asking them to ‘explore the possibility of rescheduling’ the exam. Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, MP for Manipur and Minister of State for Education, claims that things are getting better. When the central paramilitary force and other groups come in Manipur to help put an end to the bloodshed, the situation is getting better. The undesirable mob situation has already been fully controlled by them.

The Reason for the Violence

Violent conflicts are taking place in Manipur as a result of a plan to give the state’s dominant Metei group scheduled tribal status. Tribal confrontations broke out on Wednesday as a result of a “Tribal Solidarity March” coordinated by opponents of the plan from the Naga and Kuki tribes. Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, the minister of state for education and a member of the BJP from Manipur, comments on the NTA’s decision to postpone the NEET (UG)-2023 exam for applicants who were assigned Manipur exam centres: ‘I had requested them to postpone the exam, in the current situation. The new exam date will be set. 5751 aspirants were expected to show up at the two Manipur locations.’
