Patna News: After witnessing massive outrage from teaching staff, students and the school staff..Bihar Education Department withdraws its August 29 notification of cancelling festival holidays like Raksha Bandhan, Janamashtami, Durga Puja and Chhath. The announcement made by the education department received backlash from not the students but also from the Political parties of the state. BJP criticized the move saying this is an anti-hindu act being promoted in the schools. Many Secondary and Primary teachers of the schools protested against the circular and launched mega protests all over the state.
Education Department cancelled all Holidays on Aug 29th
The Education Department issued a circular on August 29 cancelling the festival holidays from immediate effect. The circular mentioned cancelling holidays on Raksha bandhan, Durga Puja Janamashtami, Diwali and Chhath festival. Apart from the students, all teachers and other staff of the school were also asked to be present during these holidays.
Department withdraw Notification after backlash
The department finally withdrew the notification and reverted back to the same holiday list being followed earlier in all the schools. Over 15 Teachers association were protesting against the move. Under the last notification, Durga Puja holiday was reduced from 6 to 3, one day off given for Diwali and two day leave given for Chhath Puja.
