Schools, Colleges To Be Closed To Be Closed Next Week Amid Severe Heat In West Bengal

In view of the ever-increasing heat in West Bengal, it has been decided to close schools, colleges and all educational institutions. This decision has been taken due to the rapidly rising temperature and heat wave in the state. The Meteorological Department says that from Monday, the outbreak of heatwave is likely to increase in the entire state.

All schools and colleges closed for a week

In a notice issued on Sunday (April 16, 2023) by the Government of West Bengal, the Higher Education University Branch has informed about the closure of schools and colleges due to the heat. As per the issued notice, keeping in view the rising heat wave conditions, the competent authority in the State Government has decided that all the Autonomous / State / Central Government Aided / Private Universities / Affiliated Colleges in the State of West Bengal shall remain closed.

It has been decided to keep all schools and colleges closed for one week from 17 April 2023. Although schools and colleges in the hilly areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts will remain open as per their timings, they will not be closed.

CM Mamata Banerjee had announced a holiday

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a holiday in all government and private schools and colleges in the state from Monday. She said, “There is no need to make any arrangements for the people. I am applying for holiday from Monday to Saturday in all government, private schools, colleges, educational institutions. Government will issue notification soon. ”

After this, by issuing an official notice, it has been informed to keep all the schools and colleges of the state closed for a week.
