While the CBSE board exams are scheduled to begin from 4 May 2021, many students, parents and teachers are now requesting the government to cancel the board exams for class 10, 12 or postpone the same due to a recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the country.
However, the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) has reiterated that the examinations will be conducted as per the schedule.
CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 practical exams for the affiliated schools have already started on March 1. The board has allowed the schools to hold the exams till June 11 while taking all the precautions.
CBSE further said that those students who are unable to appear for the practical exams due to being affected by COVID-19 will be allowed to re-appear for the exams later but before June 11.
“If any candidate is absent in practical because of being COVID positive or any family member – mother, father, brother and sister, etc – is reported COVID positive, schools will conduct practical of such candidates at an appropriate time in consultation with the concerned regional officer but latest by June 11, 2021,” reads the official notification.
Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has assured that it would take ample measures to ensure the safety and security of students appearing in the exams.
CBSE Examination Controller Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj told India TV Digital that the board has increased the number of exam centers by 45-50 percent in order to ensure social distancing and following of Covid protocols.
He said that the CBSE has funded the exam centers so that they are able to make the best of the arrangements for students.
“We will follow Covid SOPs released by the government of India. Plus, we are formulating our list of guidelines which will be released soon. CBSE will also create awareness among students and parents,” Dr. Bhardwaj said.
