UP STF Busts NET CSIR Paper Leak Racket at Subharti University, Issues Statement

Subharti University

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has uncovered a NET CSIR paper leak racket during a surprise raid at Subharti University in Meerut. The investigation revealed that an administration computer was used to assist an external solver in answering question papers for four candidates taking the exam, which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Official Statement from UP STF

Amitabh Yash, the Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order/STF, UP, also issued a statement about the search that the UP STF carried out during the CSIR NET exam that was held at Subharti University in Meerut on July 26, 2024. He reaffirmed that the paper leak racket had been uncovered and stressed the continued efforts to locate and detain all those responsible.

During the raid at Subharti University, which served as an examination center for the NET exam, one individual was arrested and four others were detained. The university was hosting the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode exams. The first paper was conducted yesterday. The raids were carried out during the second exam today.

Modus Operandi of the Racket

The STF found that the server room of the examination lab had an administration computer connected to the local area network. Additionally, two laptops with AnyDesk remote access were discovered, enabling an outside solver to complete the question papers. Furthermore, a cell phone belonging to an employee who conducted exams was discovered. Four applicants’ names, roll numbers, and system IPs were on this phone, making it possible for an outsider to view their screens.

The NET exam papers, which include multiple-choice questions (MCQs) divided into three parts – General Aptitude, subject-related MCQs, and scientific concepts – were being solved externally. Candidates can take the exam in either English or Hindi, as chosen during registration.

University’s Clarification

A statement on the incident has been released by Subharti University. They stated that the supposed NET exam organisation is unrelated to the university. Under clarification, the university stated that TCS, not Subharti University, is in charge of administering the exam because it had rented out the exam location to TCS.

In their statement, the university management said, “Subharti University has no connection with the organization of the NET exam. The exam venue on our campus was rented out to TCS, and TCS is responsible for conducting the exam. Any illegal activities found during the exam are the full responsibility of TCS. The university management is fully cooperating with the investigating agencies to identify those involved in illegal activities.”
