UP News: For the academic year 2023–2024, the state government has set the maximum number of students it would admit into various government and assisted polytechnic courses. As a result, 49,778 individuals in total may apply for admission to these schools’ diploma-level courses. 9,881 EWS group seats are available compared to 44,139 general category seats. “The seat capacity has been determined keeping in view the interest of students in 2022-23 session,” said a government spokesperson.
Polytechnic Schools in UP Implement Reservation Guidelines for Seat Allocation
Additionally, the directorate of technical education’s polytechnic schools have issued directions to guarantee that reservation policies are followed when assigning seats. “The Yogi government’s efforts to skill Uttar Pradesh‘s youth and connect them to employment opportunities involve training thousands of young individuals through polytechnic institutes each year. The aim is to encourage students to choose their desired careers by offering them admission to their preferred courses,” officials said. The government has decided on the number of seats available after taking the degree of student interest in various disciplines into account, it said. According to the issued regulations, all institutions are required to make sure that admissions are restricted to the authorised seats throughout the admissions process. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) must have given its clearance for the academic session 2023–2024 for the institutions for whom admission capacity has been set, according to the directive.
JEE Council to Scrutinize AICTE Approval for Seat Allocation in UP Polytechnics
The Joint Entrance Examination Council shall verify at the Secretary level the status of approval from AICTE and all pertinent information prior to counselling on the specified 49,778 seats for the academic session 2023–2024 in all government or aided polytechnic colleges. When registering students, the Secretary of the Board of Technical Education will additionally attest that every seat is accepted by AICTE. Admission shall only be allowed for the Pharmacy programme after receiving approval from PCI, New Delhi, in accordance with the allotted admission capacity. 10% of the seats permitted by PCI for the Pharmacy programme are set aside for admission under the EWS category, according to the PCI circular. According to the AICTE circular, 10% of the overall admission capacity is predicted to be available for EWS category admission in programmes other than pharmacy studies. Admission procedures for the Architectural Assistantship and Interior Design and Decoration programmes will be carried out in accordance with the Council of Architecture’s regulations. According to the clearances received for admission capacity determination, an additional 9881 seats have been added to the total allotted 49778 seats to ensure 10% EWS reservation. As a result, the total admission capacity under the general category for government and assisted Polytechnic institutions is set at 44139.
UP’s Self-Financed Scheme Allocates 2162 Seats
The Self-Financed Scheme has designated 2162 seats. 35 seats under the Integrating Person with Disability in the Main Stream Technical and Vocational Scheme, 2542 for the second shift (2 pm to 8:30 pm), and 900 seats for PPP style institutions have also been provided. The Yogi government has made major accommodations for students with disabilities who are pursuing technical education and living in hostels. The meal subsidy for male and female students at the Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped in Kanpur has been raised from 250 to 1000 rupees. 150 students with disabilities from across the state reside and attend diploma-aided classes at this institution. It is significant that there has long been a call for raising the food subsidy. The government has decided to increase the food subsidy by four times in accordance with the suggestion it received in response to this demand.
