NEET PG 2024: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) Examination, which was slated for today, June 23, 2024, was abruptly postponed. This last-minute decision has ignited a wave of anger and frustration among aspirants and netizens alike. The postponement follows recent controversies surrounding the integrity of several competitive exams in India.
NEET PG 2024 – Last-Minute Postponement Sparks Outrage
The National Board of Examination (NBE), responsible for conducting the NEET PG, issued a warning just a day before the exam, alerting students to beware of social media groups selling the question paper for a hefty price. Despite this caution, the sudden decision to delay the exam less than 12 hours before it was set to begin has left many in shock and dismay.
Netizens Express Anger and Demand Accountability
Students who had prepared for months, and in some cases years, are expressing their outrage over the abrupt postponement. One student shared their ordeal with ANI, saying, “This is extremely wrong. I have traveled 600 km to attend the exam. The exam was scheduled for March, then postponed to July. Now, they’ve postponed it again. We should have been informed at least 24 hours before. There is no information on the paper leak as of now.”
The decision has prompted widespread calls for accountability, with many questioning the competence of the National Testing Agency (NTA). A user on X (formerly Twitter) expressed their anger: “What NEET exam postponed at 10 pm yesterday?? Less than 12 hours before the exam?? NTA should be dissolved immediately.”
Another user criticized the silence of public figures on this issue, stating, “Amitabh Bachchan is the God of the film world. Sachin Tendulkar is the God of the cricket world. NEET paper leak ruined the future of lakhs of students. UGC NET exam cancelled. Many children even committed suicide. All this happened, but he never tweeted for them. People consider him God.”
The postponement’s impact on students’ mental and physical health has been a significant concern. A doctor voiced his concern on X: “When a student prepares for an entrance like NEET PG, the schedule they have to follow is damaging to both physical and mental health. In the last days before the exam, stress levels are at their peak, and students somehow manage by repeatedly telling themselves ‘few more days and I will be out of this hell.’ And then, 12 hours before, the exam gets postponed… Just like that. The incompetent officials and politicians, by not being able to conduct the exams properly, are causing grave physical and mental damage to students. And the worst part is that they don’t care a bit. Did we hear an official come out and even show fake concern? No, nothing. Shameful.”
The current chaos has also led some to reminisce about the days when admissions were purely merit-based. A doctor shared on X, “With the turmoil hovering around the #NEET_परीक्षा, I’m glad I cleared my UG and PG when #NEET didn’t exist, and everything was done purely on the basis of merit! Else the current mockery would surely have killed the dreams of many middle-class general category doctors like me!”
The NEET PG 2024 postponement, coming just 12 hours before the exam, has stirred a significant uproar among students and netizens. The outcry highlights deep-seated issues within the examination system and calls for immediate reforms to restore integrity and trust in India’s competitive exams.
